John O’Sullivan: The woke versus the West

This book is a selection of forty-three essays from nine magazines, three websites, two books and one monograph written over a period of some thirty years on a wide variety of topics. As they are articles on public affairs, they often conclude with predictions either explicit or implicit. It is not possible to foretell the future, and inevitably, some predictions prove to be erroneous. Almost all the pieces appear as originally published. Some have been adapted for length or other reasons. If there is one general theme that emerges from some or most of the essays, it is that the revolution of ‘wokeness’ that currently assaults us is not a complete novelty but only an extreme version of earlier ‘movements’ rooted in similar fallacies.
