About us

The Batthyány Lajos Foundation established BL Nonprofit Ltd. in 2010 with the aim of presenting to the Hungarian and international readership the Hungarian processes, nation-building initiatives, innovations, national traditions and intellectual values. The Hungarian Review was the first magazine to be launched, followed by Magyar Krónika and Hungarian Conservative.

The Hungarian Review aims to present the world’s historical, political and international events through a Central European perspective. As a result, the debate on Europe’s present and future is a recurring feature of the publication’s issues. The Hungarian Review features distinguished national and international scholars as well as prominent political and economic figures. The magazine’s editor-in-chief is Tamás Magyarics, while István Kiss is the deputy editor-in-chief.

Since September 2020, BL Nonprofit Ltd. has been publishing the renewed Magyar Krónika magazine, which invites its readers to discover the landscapes of our country, from the Hortobágy through Komárom to the Őrség. The aim of the publication is to showcase the community builders and value creators of the Hungarian society, whether they are our everyday heroes, emblematic artists, innovative scientists, or top athletes. The editor-in-chief of the quarterly print publication is Gábor Muray. Magyar Krónika has also been present as an online portal (kronika.hu), providing readers with up-to-date written and video content on the latest and most important cultural news in Hungary. Kronika.hu is managed by Anna Demeter.

Hungarian Conservative, our third publication, was first published in April 2021. The quarterly magazine is the foremost English-language voice of 21st century Hungarian conservatism, bringing Hungarian political and economic developments to our international readership. The publication’s editor-in-chief is Tamás Magyarics and its deputy editor-in-chief is István Kiss.  Hungarian Conservative has also been operating as a news portal, providing our international readership with first-hand information on Hungarian domestic and foreign policy developments and achievements through our journalists’ news articles and analyses. The editor-in-chief of hungarianconservative.com is Gergely Dobozi.

The publisher, BL Nonprofit Ltd. oversees and supports the work of the editorial teams by developing and operating our magazine distribution network, promoting cooperation agreements, and building international relations. Our publications are available in Hungary on the shelves of Relay and Inmedio, as well as in Libri stores. Thanks to our international distribution collaborations, our English-language publications can be purchased in Europe and North America, among other places around the globe.

Since 2024, all of our publications can be quickly and conveniently purchased through the BL webshop: through our print and online media, the voice of Hungary reaches every country in the world.
